  • Objective To understand indoor air pollution situation in recent decorated residential apartments in Baoshan District and to provide scientific evidences for the control of indoor formaldehyde pollution.

Methods Twenty recent decorated residential apartments were selected to monitor indoor formaldehyde from April 2008 to December 2009. The data were analyzed with SPSS11.0.

The result of multinomial logistic analysis indicated that natural ventilation duration, air temperature and furniture layout were significantly related to the concentration of formaldehyde (P < 0.05). There were negative correlation between natural ventilation duration and indoor formaldehyde concentration and positive correlation between temperature and indoor formaldehyde concentration. Furniture in house related to higher indoor formaldehyde concentration.
