Objective To examine and evaluate the improvement of sleep function to check the usefulness of health food using Self-Rating Scale of Sleep (SRSS).
Methods The test group of 36 persons versus the control group of 33 persons were enrolled in this study with self report using SRSS prior to and after taking melatonin or placebo for 30 days respectively. The differences indicating sleep quality were statistically analyzed.
Results Compared with the controls, 8 items of SRSS indices in the test group were improved obviously and the SRSS total score was also decreased significantly. The difference of SRSS total score of test group was greater than that of control group.
Conclusion SRSS may be effectively applied to the test on improving sleep function of health food.
