Abstract:
Objective To explore the effect of psychological stress and related factors on health in radiologyphysicians.
Methods General Health Questionnaire(GHQ-12), the Chinese version of Perceived Stress Scale(CPSS), Eysenck Personality Questionnaire Inventory Chinese version (EPQ-RSC short form) and Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-GS) were used to identify the factors that affect health status in 728 radiology physicians.
Results The total stress scores were significantly affected by age, marital status and job title (F=2.975, P=0.036; F=3.519, P=0.030; F=6.513, P<0.001, respectively). The stress score in physicians having direct contact to radiation was significantly higher than those having indirect contact (t=3.170, P<0.001). Positive correlation was found between stress scores and GHQ scores(r=0.414, P<0.01). Results of multiple liner regression showed that neuroticism, emotional exhaustion and perceived stress were the health impact factors (P<0.05).
Conclusion The perceived stress level could have influence on health status, health education should be taken to improve physical and mental health of radiological medical staff.
