Abstract:
Objective To understand the occupational health status of various industries in Yangzhou development zone, and to provide basis for strategy-making to prevent occupational diseases.
Methods An occupational health survey to 34 enterprises covering 9 industries was conducted in September 2011. The data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel.
Results Of the 34 enterprises investigated, the completion rates of occupational hazards evaluation and informing workers of the hazards were 38.2% and 55.9%, respectively. The measured rate of occupational hazards in 6 enterprises was less than 50%. In addition, 13 enterprises did not carry out occupational health examinations in qualified hospitals or clinics.
Conclusion The effort on occupational diseases prevention and control in the development zone is not enough. Relevant departments, therefore, should strengthen supervision over the construction projects in enterprises and regulate their occupational health work in the future.
