Two Case Reports on Occupational Melanosis in a Steel Wire Rope Factory

  • Exposure to coal tar, petroleum, and related fractionation products can cause melanosis. The paper reported two cases of occupational melanosis in a steel wire rope factory showing history of exposure to engine oil and commercial grease. It is suggested that occupational health surveillance should be strengthened on the workstations with exposure to occupational melanosis hazards to avoid the occurrence of occupational diseases.
