In July/August 2017, millions of eggs have being recalled from shops and warehouses in Germany and the Netherlands after some were found containing high levels of fipronil. Fipronil is a phenylpyrazole insecticide, used as the active ingredient in field pest control for corn as well as animal healthcare. This article summarized the typical characteristics and toxicological data of fipronil.
